Scholarships

The BBC Foundation provides two annual awards at the two schools that Brett attended for most of her young life. The awards are given to a female student exhibiting a flair for creative writing. Other requirements for the award are that she will not receive another academic award and that she has unique qualities of independence and individuality. The emphasis is to choose a girl who would not normally win anything, because she would be an unlikely candidate, who does not always follow the conventional range of behaviors associated with an award.

The Grosse Pointe Academy Brett Bentley Crawford Creative Writing Award is given to a 7th grade student. A check for $1,500 is made out to The Grosse Pointe Academy towards this student’s 8th grade tuition. The award is given in May at the end of the Academic year.

The Grosse Pointe North Brett Bentley Crawford Creative Writing Award is given to a 12th grade graduating student. This student, however receives the check to do with as she desires, in anticipation of scholarly needs in the coming university years.
